Supply Chain
Here at Hissy Fit we keep it real. A fully transparent supply chain is so important to us and essential for you as a consumer. We don't work like many other businesses, so we know it can be quite confusing to understand us - but we hope this helps!
THE GARMENT FACTORY:
✨Based in Birmingham UK and just a 4 minute drive from our warehouse/office.
✨The factory is a separate company and a small family run business owned by Bill & his wife Jaswinder. The couple have been in the rag trade for over 30 years manufactured for big names during the 90s & 00s. After majority of work moving overseas, Danielle found them at the time of their downsize and together we kept a small part of UK manufacturing alive. We have been working together since 2015.
✨The factory now has an amazing & skilled team of 4 seamstresses
✨We visit the factory often daily to oversee all production, work on samples, collect stock and catch up over a coffee. You can see a lot of this content on our social media platforms - check out Bills own account on Tik Tok @hissyfitbill !
✨Having a factory so close means we know exactly who made our clothing, and under what conditions.
✨We show as much content as we can of the factory (see our instagram story highlights & Tik Toks for loads of insights) but we do have to respect their privacy as a separate company. Not all our seamstresses want to be on camera, so you will probably instead see a lot of the factory managers Bill and his wife Jas who are comfortable being in the spotlight now
✨ Bill and Danielle go on fabric buying trips together. These fabrics are dead stock and typically come in job lots. You can find out what dead stock is here.
✨ Our factory grades their own patterns, lay rolls of fabric and cut in small batches. You will probably find the same items in a few different prints, this is the best way for us to work so it gives us the most amount of stock whilst saving time for our small team
✨ Batches are typically 50-200 pieces. This is due to the amount of fabric we can get hold of, but also so we do not make too much stock. This means we can have a lot of stock drops, but all batches are very small. Sometimes they go viral or prove popular so sell out in minutes, some lines are slower sellers and have been in stock for years.
✨We lay our fabric in a way that creates the least waste. However, if there are any offcuts/scraps then we use them to make new pieces!
✨Any scraps that are too small or unusable we donate to local universities, collages, small businesses, schools and nurseries for projects and craft days.
THE FABRIC SUPPLIER;
✨ We source all our fabrics from the UK
✨Our USP is our fabrics, and our supplier is our best kept secret. We have been working with them since the start of Hissy Fit in 2015 but Bill has had a work relationship with many of them for decades
✨We buy dead stock / end of line fabrics only. These are fabrics that have been cancelled by other companies when buyers have perhaps changed their minds, there's a small fault with the fabric or they have ordered too much etc so they are no longer wanted. These rolls typically end up in landfill or incinerated so we rescue them and take the time working with them to turn them into something beautiful before they are wasted.
✨We buy them typically in job lots, and just make it work. We love this because it's so much more fun! We love a design challenge and makes us more unique as you rarely find our fabrics anywhere else!
✨ Dead stock fabrics are better for the planet than creating new fabrics but working with them does come with its cons. As we are getting fabric rolls at their end of life status, having also been passed through many hands, we rarely get composition information on our fabrics so that is sadly something that we are not able to provide for our customers. We advise if you have any allergies to any fabrics to reach out to us via email before purchasing. We may be able to get some more information for you or point you in the direction of some other fabulous small business who work with just 100% natural fabrics.
✨We hope to also move towards all natural fabrics one day however, as long as dead stock fabrics are unfortunately being discarded by bigger companies we will always have work to do.
✨ Working with dead stock fabrics also means that all our pieces are quite limited. We tend to end up with one roll per print/style which doesn't give us a lot to work with. The odd occasion we will come across a batch of the same fabric so it allows us to do a good quantity in our full size range, but sometimes we have to decide which sizes/styles make the cut.
✨Once we use all our fabric, it's rare we can restock. We are always getting being contacted about new fabrics though so don't worry if something you love has sold out, we are always working hard behind the scenes and making new small runs all the time.

THE KNITWEAR FACTORY:
As Hissy Fits 10 year anniversary was approaching we decided we need to finally add some strings to our bow and looked into manufacturing knitwear, this is not something Bill & Jas can do at our garment factory so we spent nearly a year visiting other factories till we found the right fit for us. We finally found a family factory that share the same passions for sustainable and ethical fashion.
✨Based in Leicester UK around a 60 minute drive from our warehouse/office.
✨ This factory is a small family fun business with over 20 years experience in the knitwear industry
✨This factory holds a Scope certificate for recycled materials and work according to the ETI (Ethical Trading Initiate) Base Code
✨ We began working with this factory in April 2025 and have visited the factory 3 times already. We plan to dedicate 1 visit per month so we can monitor working conditions & practises
✨We aim to show more content from the knitwear factory as our working relationship grows with them
